It evaluates current domestic and international responses to human trafficking, and should be particularly useful for students interested in the challenge of developing legal and policy remedies for a problem that is both complex in its origin and global in its scope. General course Description: (Same as History 105C / 5C, SOMGEN 205) Interdisciplinary approach to understanding the extent and complexity of the global phenomenon of human trafficking, especially for forced prostitution and labor exploitation, focusing on human rights violations and remedies. Provides a historical context for the development and spread of human trafficking. Analyzes the current international and domestic legal and policy frameworks to combat trafficking and evaluates their practical implementation. Examines the medical, psychological, and public health issues involved. Uses problem-based learning and offers an optional service component. Course Style: A Substantive/ Perspective course looks at law from an external or non-traditional standpoint. Course Frequency: Varied, check w/ registrar |
