Description: The biotechnology transactional practice is a subspecialty of Intellectual Property Transactions that focuses on business transactions in the biotechnology sector involving the acquisition, development, manufacture and commercialization of products and the in-licensing and out-licensing of technology. The biotechnology sector is comprised of a diverse collection of companies spanning the gamut from traditional pharmaceutical companies and vertically integrated multi-product biotechnology companies to research-oriented biotechnology start-ups and small drug development companies. The biotechnology sector also includes diagnostics and genomics companies, contract manufacturing organizations, contract research organizations and variety of other companies providing products and services in support of the development and manufacture of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and diagnostic products. Biotechnology transactional attorneys work with biotechnology companies to structure, negotiate and provide advice regarding a wide variety of key commercial transactions such as joint-development transactions, collaborations, strategic alliances, manufacturing and supply arrangements, and patent and technology licenses. |
