Handles civil or criminal appeals and appellate writ or other collateral proceedings. Typically appellate lawyers also may advise re post-trial motions (JNOV, new trial, etc.) and sometimes dispositive trial court motions (e.g., summary judgment). Argue about the law and how the law appelies to the facts developed in a particular case. Generally not involved in developing, discovering or proving the facts.
