[ Academia ] : This shared workspace allows students to learn from and collaborate with practitioners in education law. Take the opportunity to seek perspectives and advice from professionals in this practice area. Description: Education law attorneys work for all types of employers: private law firms, public interest firms, advocacy groups, trade associations and governmental entities. They also represent a variety of clients, including parents, students, teachers, charter schools, school and community college districts and their elected boards, and any number of for-profit and/or nonprofit organizations that do business with educational institutions. Education law attorneys provide services in a broad range of areas including both transactional and litigation work, from civil rights to labor/employment to real property/construction to highly specialized work in areas such as special education. The common thread through all of the work education attorneys do is the opportunity to have a direct and positive impact on student access to educational opportunities as well as a positive impact on student achievement. This is an area of law that also offers lawyers a window into the world of politics and public policy and is a perfect path for attorneys with interests in those areas. |
