Elder law is an area of practice that deals with the unique legal issues that arise because of advanced age. The genesis of the practice of elder or senior law was the enactment of the Older Americans Act (OAA), enacted in 1965, which created the Administration of the Aging (AOA), which serves as the primary advocate for issues facing the elderly.
