Students interested in a sports, media and entertainment practice should take one or more courses dealing with employment related issues. This course surveys the law of labor relations and is designed to provide the student with an acquaintance with the more important problems of labor law. General course Description: This course surveys the law of labor relations; it is designed to provide the student with an acquaintance with the more important problems of labor law but not with a comprehensive coverage of the entire field. In particular, the course focuses upon the historical development of labor law, problems relating to union organization, recognition, and the duty to bargain collectively. The course also examines some aspects of arbitration and the law relating to the enforcement of collective bargaining as well as non-union arbitration. The course includes some discussion of the relationship between law and politics in administrative agencies. Course Style: A Substantive/Statutory course deals with law, theory, and policy in the context of a particular code or statutory scheme. |
