Thus, it is beneficial for lifescience lawyers to have a basic understanding of the American health care system and its legal and policy problems. Part I focuses on the health care financing system, health care system reform, and quality assurance, including medical malpractice.
General course Description:
The course this term focuses on bioethics and on public health. It covers legal and ethical issues in the physician/patient relationship, end of life care, organ transplantation, and reproductive medicine, before ending with a consideration of public health regulations.
The class is open to all law or medical students. Graduate students may be admitted from other parts of the university by consent of the instructor.
Course Style: A Substantive/Statutory course deals with law, theory, and policy in the context of a particular code or statutory scheme.
Course Frequency: Offered once a year
