[ Academia ] [ Litigation ] [ Regulatory & Policy ] as a Related Elective for those interested in Government Regulation : Students preparing for a white-collar criminal law practice will benefit from an understanding of the possibility of both tortious and criminal conduct in the financing and delivery of health care services. Health care is a booming industry that is subject to increasing oversight by both federal and state regulatory bodies. General course Description: (SAME AS HRP391, PUBLPOL231, MGTECON331) This course provides the legal, instititional, and economic background necessary to understand the financing and production of health services in the US. Potential topics include: health reform, health insurance (Medicare and Medicaid, employer-sponsored insurance, the uninsured), medical malpractice and quality regulation, pharmaceuticals, the corporate practice of medicine, regulation of fraud and abuse, and international comparisons. Course Style: A Substantive course teaches the law, theory, and policy in a particular area of law Course Frequency: Offered once a year |
