[ Litigation ] as a Foundational Course : Law, Litigation and Educational Policy is THE foundational course for anyone interested in education law. It explores the interplay between educational law and policy, administrative decision-making, and practice. General course Description: (Same as EDUC 326). This course explores the interplay between educational law and policy, administrative decision-making, and practice. Among the issues addressed are the relationship between schooling and the state, the nature and scope of students' substantive and procedural rights inside the schoolhouse doors, and the many meanings of equality of educational opportunity and how law and litigation have advanced or stymied the goal of equality of educational opportunity. Particular attention will be paid to the role of litigation in school reform efforts. Course Style: A Substantive/ Perspective course looks at law from an external or non-traditional standpoint. |
