[ Regulatory & Policy ] as a Key Elective : IP lawyers tend to represent clients whose intellectual property is a key asset of their business. They need to understand the special nature of intellectual property in a business context - - how it creates value, how it is protected and exchanged, and the role it plays in a competitive economy. Students interested in an IP practice should choose one or more courses that consider intellectual property in a business context. This is an advanced course that focuses on the special legal issues present at the intersection of antitrust and intellectual property. Students who would like a more general overview of antitrust law should consider taking Antitrust instead. General course Description: This is an advanced seminar focusing on antitrust law as it applies to the creation, licensing, and exercise of intellectual property rights. At least one IP or antitrust class is a prerequisite, and ideally both. Course Style: A Substantive/Statutory course deals with law, theory, and policy in the context of a particular code or statutory scheme. |
