[ Transactional ] as a Key Elective : Lifescience lawyers need to understand the legal and policy issues raised by the industry. This course focuses primarily on human genetics, but also examines the legal, social and ethical issues arising from advances in areas like assisted reproduction and neuroscience. General course Description: (Same as HRP 221) This seminar wil focus on ethical, legal, and social issues arising from advances in our knowledge of human genetics. These include forensic uses of genetics, genetic testing, widespread whole genome sequencing, the consequences of genetics for human reproduction, and the ethics of genomic biobanks for research, among other things. Students are required to write a research paper for this course. Course Style: A Substantive course teaches the law, theory, and policy in a particular area of law |
