However, few have received any formal training in preparation for the unique aspects of this role, i.e., strategic planning, management, communication, etc. This course provides an overview of both the theory and practice of effectively leading others. General course Description: This course will help prepare future lawyers to exercise decision making and leadership skills, and to understand the sources and strategies of influence necessary to function effectively in organizational settings. Topics will include organizational dynamics, forms of influence, decision making biases, conflict management, innovation, diversity, ethical responsibilities, scandal, human rights, and movements for social change. Materials will include cutting-edge research, case histories, exercises, film and literature. Class sessions will include visitors who have occupied leadership roles. Course Style: A Substantive course teaches the law, theory, and policy in a particular area of law Course Frequency: Offered once a year |
