[ Academia ] as a Relevant Course outside SLS for those interested in Human Rights : Students interested in human rights issues should consider taking 1 or more classes that focus on the international human rights movement, inter-group conflict, and international conflict resolution. General course Description: Ideas of rights at the center of contemporary politics around the world. An anthropological perspective on how rights are invoked, claimed, and translated into institutional policies in ethnographic cases. The limitations of liberal notions of rights and innovative forms of politics emerging within and against rights talk. Prerequisite: consent of instructor. Course Style: A Substantive course teaches the law, theory, and policy in a particular area of law |
