[ Academia ] as a Relevant Course outside SLS for those interested in Europe : Environmental lawyers with an international focus should understand the economic, political, and cultural forces in their region of concern -- in order to build relationships in those areas. Region: Eastern & Western Europe General course Description: Privatization, restructuring, and institutional change in E. Europe and the former Soviet Union. Analysis of property rights, corporate governance, incentives, and resource allocation in socialist and transitional economies. Emphasis is on liberalization and privatization policies (including mass and voucher programs) as the primary instruments to induce changes in behavior. Prerequisite: 50. Recommended: 51. Course Style: A Substantive course teaches the law, theory, and policy in a particular area of law |
