[ Litigation ] as a Relevant Course outside SLS for those interested in Electronics : IP attorneys should have a basic understanding of the science underlying their client's business and current issues in that area. Students with sufficient science background who are interested in patent prosecution or managing clients' patent portfolios in the computer or electronics industries, should consider taking 1 or more courses that explore in greater depth the technical aspects of information technology or electronics. This course offers an introduction to the physical bases and practical methods of chip fabrication, including the impact of technology on the design of circuits and devices. General course Description: For students interested in the physical bases and practical methods of silicon VLSI chip fabrication, or the impact of technology on device and circuit design, or intending to pursue doctoral research involving the use of Stanford's Nanofabrication laboratory. Process simulators illustrate concepts. Topics: principles of integrated circuit fabrication processes, physical and chemical models for crystal growth, oxidation, ion implantation, etching, deposition, lithography, and back-end processing. Required for 410. Course Style: A Substantive course teaches the law, theory, and policy in a particular area of law |
