[ Regulatory & Policy ] as a Relevant Course outside SLS for those interested in Aging : It is highly useful for attorneys who represent health care providers or lifescience companies to have a basic understanding of both the scientific and the socioeconomic contexts within which their clients' legal issues arise. Students interested in health law policy for some of the social and financial issues posed by an aging population should consider taking one or more classes that use a multidisciplinary approach. This course considers strategies for managing the care of the dying. General course Description: Detailed, systematic survey of a generalized terminal illness and elaboration of the basic principles underlying approaches to the care of the dying. Particular attention is paid to problem areas involving medical ethics and multi-culture. Practical strategies for managing the special medical and emotional problems that arise in the care of the dying patient. There may be guest speakers and patient interviews. No final examination. (Minimum: 4 students) Course Style: A Substantive course teaches the law, theory, and policy in a particular area of law |
