[ Regulatory & Policy ] as a Relevant Course outside SLS for those interested in Industrialized Nations : International lawyers, particularly international trade lawyers, should understand the role of economic and trade policies adopted by our trading partners and by supranational organizations like the European Union. Students should select 1 or more courses dealing with national economic policy-making and its effects on international trade and capital markets. General course Description: The role of political ideology and government partisanship in influencing economic outcomes. How political parties interact with interest groups in the formation of economic strategies. How voters influence patterns of economic policy making. The cross-national impact of globalization and increasing openness of trade and capital markets. Constraints on domestic political actors by the development of supranational political organizations such as the EU. Course Style: A Substantive/ Perspective course looks at law from an external or non-traditional standpoint. |
