[ Academia ] as a Related Elective for those interested in Intellectual Property : It is important for environmental lawyers to have an understanding of IP law. Increasingly, innovative technologies play a key role in addressing many environmental concerns. Intellectual property rules affect the quality and availability of innovative ideas and products. One way to achieve environmental protection is by coupling incentives for innovation in beneficial technologies with restriction on harmful technologies. Students should consider taking 1 or more courses addressing intellectual property issues. This advanced course is open only to those who have taken Patent Law. General course Description: This is an advanced seminar, open only to those who have taken patent law. We will discuss current cases, as well as some issues not covered in the basic class. We will also focus on current efforts to reform the patent system. Students will write and present a research paper on a patent law topic. Course Style: A Substantive course teaches the law, theory, and policy in a particular area of law Course Frequency: Varied, check w/ registrar |
