[ Academia ] as a Key Elective : As most lifescience companies' main assets are their intellectual property, it is important for every biotech attorney to have an in-depth understanding of IP law. Students should consider taking one or more courses addressing intellectual property issues. An advanced seminar, this course is open only to those who have taken patent law. Class discussion focuses on current cases, and students write and present a research paper on a patent law topic. General course Description: This is an advanced seminar, open only to those who have taken patent law. We will discuss current cases, as well as some issues not covered in the basic class. We will also focus on current efforts to reform the patent system. Students will write and present a research paper on a patent law topic.
