[ Transactional ] as a Key Elective : Increasingly, innovative technologies play a key role in addressing many environmental issues. This is especially true in the area of pollution and harms to public health. Intellectual property rules affect the quality and availability of innovative ideas and products necessary to improve our standard of living. One way to achieve environmental protection is through coupling incentives for innovation in beneficial technologies with restriction on harmful technologies. It is important for environmental lawyers to have an understanding of IP law. Students should consider taking one or more courses addressing intellectual property issues. An advanced seminar, this course is open only to those who have taken Patent Law. Class discussion focuses on current cases, and students write and present a research paper on a patent law topic. General course Description: This is an advanced seminar, open only to those who have taken patent law. We will discuss current cases, as well as some issues not covered in the basic class. We will also focus on current efforts to reform the patent system. Students will write and present a research paper on a patent law topic. Course Style: A Substantive course teaches the law, theory, and policy in a particular area of law Course Frequency: Varied, check w/ registrar |
